June 13*2002, 10:19 pm

Yesterday my job ended. No, i wan't fired again. We just finished all the work.

And today i agreed to do an even shittier job. holy cow! is there anything i won''t do for money??

anywhho, as per Sir paul McCartney's orders, the footage my company has is not to leave our sight. well, there are somewhere between 500 and 600 videos and they all have to be dubbed this weekend. This means we had to use an outside facility to dub the tapes. this means i am the person who was asked to come here and set up the dubbing and make sure no one steals any of our oh-so-precious footage (it's not even that great).

A weird job in its own right. But i was supposed to be relieved at midnight. Then at about 6:00 my boss called and made an offhand joke about me working all night. we all had a good laugh. but then it turned out she was not joking. the night guy could not make it. or, she was only half joking. whatever.

i said that i technically could do it- since i am not busy until 1 oclock tomorrow.

and now i am.

24 hour shift.

i brought two books with me and already finished one.

This will be a running commentary on my night.

10:26 pm

i read "the hours" by michael cunningham. This book was really good. however, it was all about depression and suicidal women it turns out. it was all tied around "mrs dalloway" by virginia woolf, and she is even a character herself.

For some reason i have always liked that book a lot. and i liked this one too. but i was disturbed at how closely i related to some of the characters. virginia woolf was a great writer but was also crazy as a loon.

so there you go.

i have also read some recaps on www.televisionwithoutpity.com

the office here has cleared out and it's mainly just me and brian, the night shift guy.

eaten a scallion pancake and had 5 glasses of water.

11:49 pm

talked to mike on the phone about his day.

will see him tomorrow night.

he was very nervous about his first day of shooting and spent the night tossing and turning and grumbling.

1:06am

starting to feel really tired. mike's yawns on the phone were contagious.

had a slight problem here and the excitement of that kept me awake.

2:00am

did work for a little while, and then i rewarded myself by booking a hotel on line. scratch one more thing off the 'to do" list.

7:00am

just slept for a little over 3 hours.

it is frickin freezing in here!

pt 2 coming soon......
