whew! the wedding is over. it was not as bad as i had prepared for. at the engagement party everyone was all over me about when i would marry mike. this time i got very few comments and they were more vague. like mike's great aunt saying "i'm gonna get going but i'm sure i'll be seeing *you* at the next wedding (wink)". nothing too bad. even sharon's sister noticed. she had the bad luck of standing near me a lot at the engagement party and was target of many "help me, please" looks. i think graduate school has put them at bay. i mean, we don't even live in the same state anymore.
as far as being a weekend off, it wasn't great. i was a million times more exhausted afterwards than i have been after work. and my apartment is messier. i was able to get a haircut though, which was nice. my hair was starting to feel like a 50 lb weight on my shoulders. lisa also gave me a bunch of very cute clothes including a hot dress that i wore to the rehearsal dinner.
mike's mom was on this weekend with the back handed compliments. to me she sai "crystal you really are pretty" implying that she once thought otherwise. she commented to mike "well, that is a youthful haircut" with a smirk. i don't even know what that means.
it was fun having time to see so many of my friends and dance and be goofy but i still can't believe that they are actually married. there was something very sterile about the whole thing that made me feel like i was sleep walking.
sharon's family was awesome though. if it hadn't been for them and sharon's friends the reception wouldn't have been half as fun. it was like the ludwig side was silent and no one was dancing. whatever lame-os.
luds was all about dancing and i tried to actually keep him on rhythm. at parties i let him do his thing but this music tended to be a lot slower. he was pretty good. way better than eric and he had taken lessons for the event. it was kind of funny though that he was so rigidly following the steps they learned, way off the actual beat and would nod at sharon when he was about to "do a move".
sharon looked really amazing and had the best wedding dress that i have ever seen. she is lucky that her mom had really good taste back in the day and kept her dress in good condition. it was so shocking seeing her in full makeup, hair and a dress. in the 7 years i have known her i have never seen her in a dress. when she entered the chapel area people literally gasped. it was pretty awesome. i thought her work friends were the most shocked.
and now all that is over with and i can finish up this project at work and then sleep and clean the apartment and get back to the everyday things that i usually take for granted.
the weekend was not awesome for seeing mike. he was really sick and then was derailed by about a million people throughout the rehearsal dinner. then he had to edit his film when we were at the hotel and then he was the best man so he was as busy getting ready as i was. then we were both exhausted and he left. and that has to tide us over for 4 weeks. ugh.
oh, and this morning at about 4 when i got home from work my bathroom was totally flooded and water was pouring out of my toilet tank. i ended up just turning off my water and going to bed. my super fixed it this morning and said that a hose had broken off. he also said "please call me as soon as these things happen" and i said "i did, at 4am, your phone was off" and he said "oh, at 4- yeah, nevermind." so i guess that is solved. now i just have all these wet towels and grody wet rugs etc... in the bathroom that i haven't had time to clean up.
i think that's it.
