it's my friend andy's birthday tomorrow and he had a party tonight. he lives like 8 blocks away from me, but 8 blocks in the direction of the "bad neighborhood". on the way to his apartment tonight i saw a guy who was beating the shit out of his girlfriend (wife?) right in the middle of a crowded sidewalk at 7pm. it freaked me out. i couldn't really stop it- i am weak and much smaller than the guy, so i told a cop (this was as he was holding her down and saying he could kill her if he wanted to) and the cop just sort of shrugged. last i saw the woman was running away and the guy was chasing her. terrible. i have no stomach for violence against women. NONE. i want anyone who beats/rapes/emotionally abuses women to die. or, at the very least, be castrated and publically humiliated. the last thing i want is for it to be shrugged off like it's not a crime. ugh- i can't even type more about it. i work myself up. i just hope she's okay. |
