August 09* 2003, 5:54 pm last night i had the most NY night of my life.

mike came up to my office after his meeting* and then my building closed at 5 so we were kicked out.

what to do?

hmm, we thought about going to bookstores, but it was hot as hothothot can get, so being in a sweltering used bookstore full of fans, was not so enticing. also, we had like 3 hours to kill.

so we walked over to central park. it was nice. everyone (including me) is complaing about all the rain we have had this year, but it has really made ny beautiful. everything is in bloom and bright, brilliant green.

we ended up going by the lake in central park, and rented a row boat. they were about to close so we made a snap decision and did it. it was great. the lake is much bigger than i realized. and the gondola was out in full force, the guy was singing and everything.

when we were done there, we sat and watched the sun set in the park, and then walked over to the subway.

we went down to chintatown for dinner. it was not great. we were going to go somewhere that we went like 3 years ago as a sort of awww-memories type thing. but that place seems to have closed. whoops.

so we went to another place on the block. turns out they hate HATE hate non-chinese people. they were almost mean to us. and would not bring us food. seriously. it took us 45 minutes and mike saying something, just to get dumplings to be brought out. it was nuts. oh well. when they did finally serve us though, it was very good. so, whatever.

then it turned out there was a street fair in little italy and all the streets were blocked to cars. so we walked through the streets. it was pretty rad, but made me wish we had eaten there instead.

as we were walking up mulberry street we see that a movie is being projected on a wall in a playground. so we go over, and its the truffaut movie "the 400 blows." mike used to be obsessed with truffaut, but i had never seen it, so we sat in the park and watched it.

then we saw that the new fancy-pants rice pudding place is right behind the park. so we decide to check it out. we tasted lots of varieties and finally settled on getting half cheesecake and half strawberry. holy shit.

if it was possible to eat heaven, it would taste like the rice pudding we had last night. mm mm.

(i think that was my first time actually enjoying rice pudding enough to eat it, i'm telling you, its not rice pudding like you've seen before)

then we walked up more and played pool for a while to kill time before the cheeseburger show.

mike won twice and i won once. it was good times. at one point i was on a roll and got in like 6 in one turn. i was ON FIRE. oh yeah.

then we went over to starfoods and waited for kimkim. i started to worry that she might chicken out. the draw to this cheeseburger show, was the amazing spectacle of the band, but meeting the new boy she is dating.

i had to promise all day to be nice. i kept threatening to embarrass her though, just to keep her on her toes.

they got there, and the boy seems very nice. too bad it was louder than loud so i didn't really talk to him.

score one for kimkim!

cheeseburger was great (as usual) and christy played shirtless, in just skin-tight hot pink zebra striped pants. it was something to see.

every time i see them i think "holy crap! luke is the best drummer ever" and then he amazes me even more the next time i see them. i am truly in love with him, and feel that everyone who sees him drum is powerless against falling in love with him.

then it was 2am and we were dead tired. we came home and slept slept slept.

awesome night!
